Golf Club de Chamonix
Golfing is an increasingly popular sport, with pioneers like Tony Jacklin and more modern heroes like Tiger Woods setting the standard for sportsmanship in the game. It’s no surprise therefore that golfing is rising in popularity with even children learning how to play. There are golfing facilities all over the world, but Golf Club de Chamonix takes the playing field to a whole new level.
Imagine, if you will, a crisp, clear, sunny morning, with topaz blue skies and a gentle cooling breeze drifting over the tops of the nearby snow-capped mountains. You raise your club with a backward stroke, and letting it swing forwards you hear that satisfying thwack as it connects perfectly with that tiny white ball. With the benefits of pure, fresh air and stunning surroundings, the 18-hole golf course at Chamonix was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior. The setting places the golf course between the Mont Blanc range and the crystalline massif over the Aiguilles Rouges (Red Peaks).
The club house is ideally situated at the start of the 18-hole golf course and is the ideal place to begin your day. Members and visitors alike find refreshments in a cold glass, and it is possible to find a more substantial repast before embarking on your day’s golfing. The staff members are friendly and welcoming and have a passion for the sport so can answer your questions about the course and the area.
If you have some time to spare and want to dine in a traditional wooden lodge, with a modern vibe, then Le Cabane des Praz boasts excellent contemporary French cuisine and stunning scenery. Le Cabane is a unique dining experience where rustic surroundings meet the modern age with up to date interior design and furnishings. If you found the mountain air a little chilly during your golf game, you will be able to warm up next to the open fire before eating out on the terrace surrounded by stunning French Pre-Alps. This restaurant is a fine-dining establishment and accordingly, the patrons expect a high standard of behaviour.
There are a number of competitions coming up at Chamonix Golf Course throughout the summer months, so keep checking back for further details as they arise.
