Val d’Isere Ski Resort Review

Val d’Isere belongs to a large ski area which is names the Espace Killy. This area is shared with the neighbouring resort Tignes. The large area of over 300km (190 miles) of pistes makes it famous for great off piste, challenging slopes and a wide range of easy runs. Val d'Isere, due to all this ski area really is attractive to all levels of skier. The altitude of the Espace Killy is high giving it a very reliable snow record making it a popular choice for a snow sure resort

The Espace Killy is a fast and efficient resort which includes 97 lifts with 2 high speed underground trains (funicular railways) one of which transports you from La Daille to the top of the Belvarde and the other takes you up the Grand Motte Glacier. This is also an area known for its popular DC sponsored Park, with a huge range of rails, jumps and even their very own boardercross

Val d’Isere is famous for it’s skiing but also for its busy nightlife, if you like to party then this is the resort for you! With après ski starting on the mountain in the day and carrying on into the late hours in the bars and clubs. Val d’Isere is an excellent party town with a variety of bars to suite all tastes and budgets. It is a resort that is also not short of restaurants from your local takeaway to high end 5 star establishments

The resort is made up of 4 areas which are Val d’Isere itself, La Daille, Le Fornet and the Manchet Valley. La Daille is out of town but the bus service to the centre is free and as it’s situated at the bottom or the funicular you can be on the slopes very quickly. Le Fornet is past the main town up the valley, here also includes the free buses and is a pretty village with some stunning chalets and is easy to access the Fornet ski area. The Manchet Valley is close to the main town and again is has some very beautiful new chalets and is a pretty village

Val d’Isere itself is where it all happens making it a very lively resort and attracts the rich and famous from around the World
