The network of canals and water ways which spread through the medieval town are simply gorgeous. 
Several bridges cross over the water at different points to reach restaurants, shops, traditional ice cream parlours and bars which are located along the narrow walkways alongside the steady flowing water. 

Perfectly arranged flower boxes hang from the railings and swans and ducks can be seen relaxing in the warm water below. 
Situated in the middle of the water is a medieval prison which you can explore for a few Euros if you fancy or you can just enjoy a cool beer whilst taking in the atmosphere all around.

Annecy’s Water Sports 

Known as Europe’s cleanest lake, the crystal clear waters of Lake Annecy is the perfect place to endeavour is a myriad of water sports. These include sailing, 
snorkelling, scuba diving, wake boarding and water skiing. 
If you dont fancy these kind of activites and a more gentle approach to water activities is your thing then you can indulge in the peddle boats, rowing boats, motor boats and kayaks. 
There is a host of companies around the shore which will advise and provide these activities for people from complete beginners to pros in there chosen field. Safety equipment is often provided with the hire and advice is plentiful.

If you care to be by the water but don’t fancy being towed by a jet ski, Annecy’s array of beaches may be more your thing.
